Pottery wheel

This activity involves a hands-on experience with creating pottery on a spinning wheel. You will learn how to create a round shaped design,
like a vase or bowl, on a pottery wheel.

We will start with an overview of the tools and materials used in pottery, including clay types, shaping tools and glazes.

You will be experience techniques for using the pottery wheel, including centering the clay, forming basic shapes (like cylinders or bowls) and adding decorative elements.

Participants will have the opportunity to try their hand at the pottery wheel under the guidance of the instructor.

Throughout the workshop, the instructor will provide individual guidance and feedback to help participants improve their skills. They may offer tips for troubleshooting common issues and suggestions for refining techniques.

Once participants have created their pottery pieces on the wheel, they may have the opportunity to add finishing touches such as trimming, carving, or applying texture.

At the end of the workshop you can decide if you will return to the Academy to glaze your artwork or to pick up it up backed and unglazed (drying and backing will take a minimum of 24 hours).

After the workshop we will clean up our workspace and tools. And relax with a drink on our rooftop.
