This course is a basic introduction to graphic design. During one school year, you will learn to use industry-standard design software such as Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop, each created for specific design tasks. Illustrator is ideal for creating logos, icons, and illustrations; InDesign is perfect for layouts such as books, magazines, and posters; and Photoshop is used for photo editing and digital artwork.
In addition to learning graphic design software, you will also develop an understanding of visual communication, image composition, and color theory. While learning the technical aspects of the software is important, your creativity, visual awareness, and ability to use imagery effectively are just as essential for producing strong design work.
By the end of the course, you will have a solid understanding of the fundamentals of these programs and how to apply them to your own creative projects. It is important to note that completing this course will not make you a professional graphic designer, it is intended as a first step into the field and provides a strong foundation for further study.
During the course, you can have access to the computers and software available at the Design Academy, so you do not need your own computer. We do recommend bringing a mouse or a Wacom drawing tablet to make working more comfortable and efficient.
This course also provides an excellent foundation for students who wish to continue their education in graphic design through an MBO or HBO program.
